It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it seemed I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was out the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this championship need to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as leader.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
