The renowned publisher has secured a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the development team at their internal studio, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.

Brinkman takes on the role of studio head at the development studio following the dismissal of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' lackluster early showing last fall.

Recently, 2K president David Ismailer informed staff about this organizational change through an official communication, which emphasized that playtesting had shown the necessity for a distinct game identity.

The president noted that the team is now overhauling Project Ethos with a revised focus, aiming to satisfy gamer demands.

This announcement follows a comparable action taken by the publisher in the summer, when they brought on an industry veteran from Blizzard to assist with the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS testing phase was revealing. It affirmed the appeal of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had work to do. It uncovered the necessity for a more distinct vision.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve advanced. You took the feedback to heart and reimagined Project ETHOS with a renewed goal - one that’s poised to deliver on its potential to our players.

His leadership and expertise in the competitive gaming space is considerable, having spent the past decade and a half creating and overseeing some of the most recognizable franchises in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, Apex Legends.
